Trigs, Octant Community Council

Trigs is an Octant Community Council Member representing the West Coast of the United States, and a core belief in the power of public goods (and communities like Octant) ability to "empower ppl to influence the change they want to see in the world." A message that Trigs so accurately points out "...hits everywhere, not just in crypto".

Trigs originally got involved with Octant as an outcome of research he had been conducting around DAOs and decentralization. He joined the community to help him develop his practice of assisting projects with decentralizing without "imploding". To Trigs, Octant represents more than just decentralization, but the financial agency and freedom projects need in order to thrive with values-aligned community members and investors; " To me, the purpose of Octant is to provide an alternative to the VC/investor/token sale as the only way to fund meaningful projects. It's about building a culture around positive sum coordination between value-aligned participants." This greater good and values first reality that Octant helps contribute to is part and parcel of what Trigs believes to be (perhaps) Blockchains' greatest promise. As he explains it;

"Blockchain is the first globally enforceable non-violent settlement/execution mechanism we've ever seen. It enables a new way for ppl to build trust networks that don't rely on lawyers, government, military, or police force to ensure transactions are settled as agreed upon. This opens the door for a whole new kind of grassroots communities to become relevant in today's world, instead of relying on big corporations to represent people's individual interests."
