Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Wasabi is an Entrepreneur and member of
Kokonut Network, an agricultural DAO devoted to utilizing natural resources and farmland to expose and acclimate members into engaging with regenerative finance models with a suite of interoperable blockchain tools.
Though Wasabi has never ventured from his island oasis in the D.R., he is a well-traveled citizen of blockchains' global ecosystem, where he has interacted with tokenomics since before Bitcoins' whitepaper was published and has been a part of various communities since 2021.
In a classic example of rejection being a compass for redirection, Wasabi first learned about Octant when they initially launched their app, though it wasn't until he applied to the 3rd funding round (known as Epochs) on the platform and had his application denied that he was invited to by Octants' Community Manager to contribute something more substantial to the Octant community overall.

Today, Wasabi serves as a Community Council Member for Octant's Community Fund, and has helped decide the company's grant recipients for the last two seasons. Asked to reflect on how he sees Octant contributing to Ethereums' ethos and larger mission he says:
"I think Octant is in a unique position to help bolster the Ethereum and Public Goods Ecosystem as a whole due to its elite team and the maturity in operations they inherit[ed] from the Golem Foundation." He adds; "...The fact they're funding builders using the yield from its Staked ETH give them a lot of room for experiments and to optimize for the community rather than optimize for their product, because unlike many other players they're not selling you into a specific product."
